Mmmmm….baaaaacon.
Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Porter: To be released in 750s. Made with maple syrup, apple-smoked bacon and vanilla beans. One thing that we’ve learned about maple bacon beers is that they are either a home run swing or bad miss. Goose Island Maple Bacon Stout apparently didn’t turn out that great while Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Porter has been one of the buzz beers of 2011.
Mother’s Foggy Notion Barleywine: Not quite English. Not quite American. Foggy Noggin is a big ole, 100% Ozarks-born barleywine ale. Boatloads of malt give this full-bodied beauty a deep-copper color and light brown sugar flavor. Six months of aging nurtures hints of oak and stone fruit, making Foggy Notion perfect for sharing or sipping alone.
Hopworks Bike Beer Kolsch Style Ale: Marking this fall’s bike events.

i strongly DISLIKE the rogue/voodoo collaboration. merely for the fact that voodoo DID NOT “create” the maple/bacon combination. i mean, seriously?!?! how are they actually involved at all in the making of this beer?! it’s a great idea from rogue, but having voodoo on the label just seems like such a gimmick to me.
It’s a total ripoff of The Funky Buddha Lounge & Brewery’s Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, which is not distributed but has national (and even some international) acclaim. A bottle (which is only available to Funky Buddha’s Snifter Club members) recently sold on eBay for $250.00 and these bottles also have extraordinary trade value. Rogue is doing 2 things here: First, they’re attempting to steal Funky Buddha’s thunder with this release since Rogue actually has national distribution. Second, Voodoo Doughnut is nationally known for their maple bacon donuts, thanks to their many appearances on every food or travel show that will feature them. Somehow Voodoo Doughnut’s involvement is supposed to add legitimacy, but it doesn’t. Voodoo Doughnut has nothing to do with beer, period.
