(Montreal, QUEBEC) – Labatt Breweries of Canada is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Labatt Bleue (Blue in the rest of Canada) by introducing Bleue Lime [Blue Lime], a brand-new product that’s sure to be a hit on terraces this summer. Brewed to the same exacting standards that beer drinkers have come to expect from Labatt Bleue, Bleue Lime offers the authentic, refreshing taste of Labatt Bleue with the flavour boost of real lime zest.

“The segment for lime-flavoured beers is showing the highest growth right now—sales have exploded by nearly 30% between 2009 and 2010—and represents 1.7% of the total volume of today’s beer industry in Canada,” says Mike Bascom, Brand Manager for Bleue Lime at Labatt Breweries of Canada. “We are proud to enrich our Labatt Bleue product line by adding Bleue Lime, which will surely be a favourite among consumers during the summer months.”

Bleue Lime can be enjoyed as-is or used as a cocktail ingredient to add some extra fun to sunny days. Two original recipes have been developed exclusively for Bleue Lime: a delicious blueberry limeade and a simple new twist on the classic margarita. The full recipes are provided below.

Bleue Lime contains 4% alcohol per volume and will be a much-appreciated beverage for lovers of refreshing beer. It has been available since July 4 in cases of 6 or 12 431-ml bottles. It is being sold all over Quebec for a limited time in retail establishments.
