Another round of new approvals…
[3/4 Update: From Oakshire’s Matt Van Wyk, “This is the first of many yet to come releases in the series. Each will just use roman numerals to differentiate. Full details of the release are not set, but so far I can tell you that it will happen on May 7th from 8am-12 prior to the annual Sasquatch Beer Festival. We’ll have a party at the brewery including food, music and of course beer. This release is rather limited as only 6 bourbon barrels were filled with an American Barleywine. Hellshire I is an American Barleywine100% aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for 10 months. The beer will be released in wax dipped 22 oz bottles. The label artwork was done by Eugene artist Sean Aaberg.”]
Oakshire Hellshire I: “Deep within the recesses of the alcoves and antechambers of Oakshire Brewing lies another realm. It’s a place where beers are carefully laid to rest in oaken sarcophagi. They slumber for aeons and emerge as wholly new and unique entities, fueling the malformed creatures that populate those blasted and eldritch wastes. That place is HELLSHIRE. Hellshire I is an American Barley Wine Ale aged for nearly nine months in freshly emptied Bourbon barrels. Notes of vanilla, coconut, oak and bourbon intertwine with the beer’s complex malt and hop character. It’s ready to enjoy now or can be cellared, cool and dry for several years.” 22 oz. bottles.
Free State Iron Man Imperial Stout: Coming to bottles (22 oz.) for the first time.
Pyramid Haywire Hefeweizen: The beer was introduced to 16 oz. cans last summer. Here we have a label approval for 12 oz. cans.
Wild Onion Summer Wit: Headed to 12 oz. cans.
Battered Boar Ultimo Hombre: all-new Wheat Beer coming to 22 oz. bottles
Regarding the new Pyramid Haywire Hefeweizen in the can: I don’t see the Haywire designation on the label. I know its the same beer but really Magic Hat shot themselves in the foot by renaming their biggest seller the Hefeweizen.
Now that they are out of the picture – common sense prevails. A great beer after mowing the lawn and without a doubt my favorite of their portfolio.
