(Innerleithen, Scottish Borders, SCOTLAND) – Merchant Du Vin has a new beer coming from Traquair House Brewery this winter.
Traquair 2010 was released earlier this year in Europe and will soon be imported to the U.S. under the name, Traquair 2020. This is a limited, one-time release with only 9,600 bottles being shipped to the U.S. It will available beginning January 1st, 2011 to commemorate the new decade (if your local liquor store is open on this holiday).
InsideBeer’s Jeff Evans writes, “2010 Ale is brewed from pale, crystal and amber malts, along with some roasted barley. The hops are East Kent Goldings. The recipe is similar, but not identical, to Traquair 900, a 9% beer released in 2007 to mark the 900th anniversary of the signing of a royal charter at the house.”
Beer description: “Traquair 2020 Ale has a deep brick-red color and an aroma of oak, caramel and toffee. Wonderful flavors suggesting plums, raisins, currants, chocolate and gently roasted malt are balanced by significant 10% ABV.”
Located in the oldest continually-inhabited house in Scotland, Traquair House Brewery has a storied brewing history and at least a couple world-class ales in Traquair House Ale and Jacobite Ale. Watch for the new Traquair 2020 to join them on shelves in the U.S. in January.
