(Boonville, CA) – What is Anderson Valley Brewing coming out with next?

The brewery is continuing with a swath of changes since new ownership took over earlier this year. Former Brewmaster, Fal Allen, returned and the brewery introduced its draft-only Bahl Hornin’ Series.

More change is on deck. Anderson Valley is set to debut a new mixed 12-pack featuring four of its mainstay beers: Boont Amber Ale, Winter Solstice, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout, Hop Ottin’ IPA. the brewery’s Trey White confirmed that those are shipping to California and PNW wholesalers on Monday with limited volumes going elsewhere. It is mainly a West Coast package.

Ah, and about that Bahl Hornin’ Series…what’s next? According to White, Imperial Boont Amber rolls off this month and will be replaced by Nettied Madge Black IPA. To understand the name of this beer (and certain others at Anderson Valley), you need to understand the story behind the Boontling folk language, native to Boonville, California, where the brewery is located. Per Wikipedia:

Although based on English, Boontling’s unusual words are unique to Boonville, California. Scottish Gaelic and Irish, and some Pomoan and Spanish, also influenced the vocabulary of the language.[1] Boontling was invented in the late 19th century and had quite a following at the turn of the 20th century. It is now mostly spoken only by aging counter-culturists and native Anderson Valley residents. Because the town of Boonville only has a little over 700 residents, Boontling is an extremely esoteric dialect, and is quickly becoming archaic. It has over a thousand unique words and phrases.

In addition, Mario Rubio says to be on the lookout for Boont Barleywine in January 2011 and Boont Hoppy Red Ale in March 2011.
